Katrina Relief

Epiphany Anglican is partnering with Anglican churches in the Houston area to get much needed aid into the hands of the displaced people who have been shuttled there from the disaster zones of the Gulf Coast. All of the gift cards that Epiphany collects will be sent directly to a coordinator on the ground who will see to it that they are put directly into the hands of the people that need them most. Checks can also be made out to Epiphany Anglican Fellowship with Katrina Relief appearing on the memo line. These will go into a specially designated fund and Epiphany will in turn send these donations on to our national Anglican Mission in America office where their relief fund will disperse them to the various relief efforts along the Gulf Coast. Here are two communiques I have received detailing the effort.

Important notice about relief efforts in Houston:As you know, tens of thousands of refugees are making their way to the Houston area to either the Astrodome or to shelters set up through out the city. Hundreds of others are filling all the motels in the area. All three groups are coming with little to no clothing, no job or home to go back to, and with very little resources.The Christian Churches in Houston are ministering among all three groups of people. The Red Cross, State Government, Military, large corporations and large churches are focusing on the needs of the Astrodome, which as you can watch on television is overwhelming even those experienced organizations.What is currently falling through the cracks are the people in the shelters and motels. The Anglican Church of the Holy Spirit and the All Saints Anglican Church are taking part in the Christian relief effort to the hundreds of families who have found themselves uprooted and homeless. But we need your help!
Here are the most effective ways you and your congregation could collect and give to immediate need relief!!!

Long Distance Phone Cards**Many families we have already spoken to are still trying to locate missing loved ones. The astrodome will have phones provided, but the shelters will have to rely on phone cards.
If you choose to give through the fund set up at the Mission Center in Pawley's, please do so quickly, since the need is real and present.

A relief fund for the hurricane devastated areas of the Gulf Coast has been established through the Anglican Mission in America. Individuals and congregations can send checks payable to the Anglican Mission in America, designated for Katrina Relief Fund, to AMiA PO Box 3427 Pawleys Island, SC 29585 Follow-up will come shortly on ways those funds will be disbursed and utilized, and perhaps other ideas on supporting those displaced by the hurricane. We urge people to pray for those in the wake of this storm, for a return to normalcy as quickly as possible, and for those who will provide comfort and aid.
